Some St Mary residents were left battling a fire that blazed through businesses in their community on Sunday. Despite firefighters’ timely response, business owners are calling for more fire units to be assigned to the parish.
Constituency Chairman for southeast St. Mary Patrick McLeod, tells CVM LIVE three buildings were burnt to the ground. However, Wilson Cong, Owner of Cong’s Auto Supplies, says the destruction could have been avoided. He’s also calling for more fire units in the parish, to combat frequent fires.
McLeod mirrors these sentiments, as he champions the call for the authorities to be more invested in developing the space. The business operators are lauding the residents’ efforts in controlling the fire until the fire brigade arrived.
