More than 30 firefighters were deployed to the Hydel Group of Schools on July 22. This as fire engulfed the entire administrative building at the Hydel Group of Schools in St. Catherine.
Superintendent Julia Davis-Buckle at the Jamaica Fire Brigade several units had to be dispatched to the scene given the size of the structure.
Units from Spanish Town, Trench Town and Portmore, the water tender from Kingston and St. Andrew and an ambulance were called to the scene.
Superintendent Davis-Buckle notes damage is estimated at 50 million dollars.
She says 35 firefighters were on location to extinguish the blaze. She also notes, schools and large establishments often require several units.
There were no reported deaths or injuries, and investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
