Fitz Bailey “Contract Killing Behind UK Tourist’s Murder”

Jamaican law enforcement has confirmed that the suspected contract killing of a United Kingdom (UK) man who was visiting Jamaica for the New Year has its roots in the UK. Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey says the incident was not random, as all involved have track records in the UK relating to drug possession.

The police have narrowed down what they believe led to the fatal shooting of 33-year-old, Shane Allen Patterson, a British tourist who was killed by unknown assailants at a villa in Bogue Heights, St. James on Monday. It is believed on the day Patterson and his friend booked the villa, they attended a popular concert in Priory St. Ann, where they met with one Oshane “Shabba” Richards. From there the three went back to a villa.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey says Richards was deported from the United Kingdom in May 2013 after his conviction, and a prison sentence of 33 months for possession of crack cocaine. DCP Bailey says Richards reported that his back was turned to Patterson when he heard several loud explosions sounding like gunshots.

Patterson is no stranger to UK authorities, as DCP Bailey says he has an extensive criminal record for a number of offenses related to narcotics, violence, and firearms. DCP Bailey is urging anyone with information that can assist with the investigation, to contact the police.
