The Minister with responsibility for the National Identification System (NIDS) is reassuring Jamaicans the system is safe and equipped to withstand the present-day threats to data security. Minister Floyd Green was speaking with stakeholders in central Jamaica earlier this week.

The Minister highlights that the fundamental vision of NIDS is to create a trusted, verifiable and secure framework between cardholders and others. Speaking at church Teachers’ College in Mandeville on Wednesday Green say’s this move will be operating in accordance with the Data Protection Act. He reveals that the NIDS card will have 26 security features with an aim to secure personal data. Watch the full report:
