Mangroves were toured in southern Clarendon as part of the solutions of the University of the West Indies (UWI) for developing countries. Minister without portfolio for Economic Growth and Job Creation Matthew Samuda says collaborative efforts are imperative in achieving forest restoration and notes that in order to fully achieve forest restoration it will take a united effort.
Minister Samuda adds while the 3800 hectares were toured the majority of the forest was burned out, however, he notes there are still signs of possible restoration. In March the Ministry had launched a detecting system for areas prone to fire.
Samuda reported that the ministry will be providing support to southern Clarendon for full forest restoration. More details are in the report below:
