Former President of the PNP Calls For Unity

Former President of the People’s National Party PJ Patterson has broken his silence on internal issues plaguing the 82-year-old party. Patterson who spoke exclusively on CVM Live Thursday, December 17, says he found no suitable candidate to restore the party following the 2019 presidential race.

Patterson says the internal Presidential election between Dr. Peter Phillips and Peter Bunting is the root cause of the turmoil in the PNP.

Party delegates on September 4, 2019 re-elected Dr. Peter Phillips as their leader, But Patterson explains that despite the public appearance of unity, it was here that the political divide  began.

He says it then spilled over into the General Election a year  later.

Patterson says following the devastating loss of the September 3 General Election, he was called in  to assess the implications and identify a presidential candidate who could unite the party.

Patterson says no-one was identified as being able to carry out that mandate.

It may be a long road to recovery for the 82 year old party.

From emails calling for President Mark Golding to resign just one day after being sworn in to leaked voice notes from PNP VP, Damion Crawford.

To the resignation of one Senior Youth arm member accusing Golding supporters of bully-ism and the latest incident involving Senate Appointee Norman Horne and his eligibility to serve.
