Four Alleged Gunmen Fatally Shot, 3 Guns Recovered

On Wednesday morning, four alleged gangsters were fatally shot and three guns were recovered in Central Village, St. Catherine. A sixteen-year-old believed to be a high-ranking member of a notorious gang was among four males. The teen is also linked to at least one recent murder. The police in St Catherine are reporting the latest incident as part of their efforts to dismantle the gangs and rid the area of criminal activities.

‘A major disruption of gangs’ is how the Head of the Area 5 Police describes the killing of four alleged gunmen by the police during a targeted early morning operation in the community of Windsor Heights. Dead are, 16-year-old Deandre Channer, otherwise called ‘Little D’ a high school student of McGregor Gully, Mountain View, Kingston 3, who the police say was a high-ranking member of the top Burgher Gully Gang and a suspect in the February 16 murder of a man in east Kingston.

21-year-old Romario ‘Mari” Brewster, of Burgher Avenue, Rollington Town, Kingston 3 also said to be a high-ranking member of the Burgher Gully Gang. The police say he was out on bail on firearms-related charges and was also a suspect in the February 16 murder.

The others are 24-year-old Patrick Brown also known as ‘Welsh’ of Zambia District, Central Village, and 22-year-old Nigel Adams otherwise called ‘Baja’ or ‘Chuku’ of Sarah Street, Kingston 4; he was wanted for murder and shooting in the Kingston Central Police Division.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Gary Griffiths says the police came under gunfire after which a shoot-out ensued – three firearms were recovered.  The incident has evoked a warning from the commanding officer for the Area 5 police that lawmen will not relent in their efforts to rid the streets of gangs.
