Four Bodies Found in Shallow Grave in West Kingston

Dismembered bodies believed to be those of four men reported missing over the weekend were discovered in a section of Tivoli Gardens, Kingston Tuesday. Loved ones broke down in tears at the sight where the shallow graves were uncovered.

The bodies were found on the compound of the old public works department, behind Rasta City. The police commenced a search on Monday after four men from Denham Town were reported missing over the weekend. 

According to police reports, Campbell, 29-year-old laborer Christopher Murray otherwise called Banga and 19-year-old student Fernando Brown otherwise called Chun Chun were among two other men who attempted to steal a generator at a gas station under construction at the intersection of Pechon Street and Water Lane, on Friday. 

Three were reportedly held while the others, one of whom was the driver, escaped. Campbell and Brown were reported missing by their relatives on Sunday while Murray was reported missing on Monday by his father.  Also on Monday, Campbell’s mother sought assistance from the police who went to the compound and discovered the shallow graves. Both the police and relatives say there were partially dried bushes laid on top of them. There were also drag marks along the ground leading to the graves. The police say a small number of flies were seen and there was a foul odour mixed with the smell of gasoline. 

Relatives believe the men were killed by men from Tivoli Gardens due to a long-standing dispute. Campbell’s grandmother has denied the allegations of him being a thief, emphasizing that her grandson was a good child. Noting that he is a past student of Wolmer’s Boys, she says he had many CSEC  subjects. She also informed our news team that Campbell’s father is the Vice Principal of the Denham Town high school; He too was on the scene when the dismembered bodies were discovered. 

The fourth missing man, is Junior Riley, a chef, who would have celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday.

The commanding officer for the Kingston western police division Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps says the police will continue the search of what they believe is a possible burial site and do further processing of the area for more forensic evidence.
