Four Paths Residents Wishes to Build Community’s First Basic School

Children in the Four Paths community, St. Elizabeth, will begin another school year without a basic school in their community. However, residents in the area are hoping to establish a new school, by re-purposing a church and transforming it into a classroom. With access to education being described as a dire need, residents of Four Paths, in St Elizabeth have formed an outreach group targeted at community development.

The group will focus on building the community’s first basic school, by refurbishing a section of an incomplete church building. They have also sought aid through partnerships with the Heart Trust NTA to facilitate infant and adult learning and certification. Justice of the peace Beval Lewis-Townsend says the project is significant to the community’s growth, as it targets the acquisition of education from an early age.

lamenting the need for proper training for residents who are not qualified, she says the absence of educational institutions in the area presents a setback for the residents. Members from the Heart Trust NTA St. Elizabeth’s parish office say they are interested in partnering with the residents to pave the way for better job opportunities.   Lewis Townsend is asking for donations from the public, to help with the school’s pending construction.
