A major probe is now underway into alleged multimillion dollar fraud at Knox Community College, in Spalding Clarendon. Cvm Live understands the missing funds total over 60 million dollars so far, which is expected to increase. Several employees of the accounts department have been sent on leave.
It is alleged that there were inconsistencies with three cheques issued by the college in one day, which led to a call from bankers seeking to verify the cheques, at which point the irregularities were uncovered.
When Cvm Live contacted the principal of the institution Dr. Davia Ramgeet she says she was unable to speak indicating the matter is currently been investigated by the relevant authorities. The school says contingency majors have been put in place to ensure business continuity.
