Friday Declared National Day of Mourning for Children

The Governor General today (June 21) declared Friday (June 23) a National Day of Mourning. This decree comes on the heels of the killing of eight-year-old Danielle Rowe, who is the eighth child to be murdered in Jamaica since 2023. Prime Minister Andrew Holness wholeheartedly endorsed the proclamation, emphasizing the process of mourning should not be viewed as meaningless. Instead, he asserted it is a collective opportunity for the Nation to condemn the actions of those responsible for such heinous acts.
