The recent renovation of the Fruitful Vale Health Centre in Portland will significantly boost the services provided to approximately ten thousand people.
The project, which also involved the renovation of the 40-year-old health centre’s staff quarters, was bankrolled by the National Health Fund (NHF) and the North East Regional Health Authority, estimated at over 6 million dollars.
Chairman of the North East Regional Health Authority Laura Heron says the renovation aims to provide a stress-free experience to the people of Fruitful Vale and neighbouring communities.
She says antenatal, postnatal, and curative care are some of the services the health centre will continue to offer.
Member of Parliament for West Portland Daryl Vaz says one of the Government’s priorities is to focus on ageing infrastructure.
He says the upgrade of the Fruitful Vale Health Centre, among other facilities, is an indication that Portland is not being left behind.
