The George Cohen Basic School received a technological boost; the computer donation is expected to help fill the learning gap following the lockdown of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The “children are the future” as described by the staff and stakeholders of the George Cohen Basic School in Port Antonio, Portland.
The basic school received a tangible donation from the leaders of the ‘New Millennium’ organization. This initiative is expected to boost modern learning preparing infants for a technological era. School Principal Loraine Thompson-Hutchinson lauded members of the organization for their contribution. “We are so grateful for getting this laptop to help us with our lesson plan”, She also shares that it will also help some of the five-year-olds with their computer lesson.
Organization Chairman Rev. Howard Phillips shares that he stands firm on his commitment to education.
Jamaica Constabulary Force, (JCF) Member Corporal Oneil Daley says Jamaica’s education system took a battering since the COVID-19 pandemic. He strongly believes that technology plays a pivotal role in the country and that citizens will have to be the change that they want to see.
