One Portland native is giving back to her parish in a major way by providing relevant life skills to young girls in the parish, helping them to become strong, independent women.
The initiative began in December 2020 following stories of abuse against women and girls. Speaking with our news team at a recent graduation ceremony, founder and Portland native, Ingrid Stewart, explains how the twelve girls matriculating got involved with the organization. She notes an additional twelve will be added to the program.
Ms. Stewart says the current batch will contribute using the knowledge they have been privy to and become mini mentors to the new recruits.
Meantime, she also outlined some of the activities the girls engaged in. The girls have also been exposed to etiquette classes. One parent tells our news team she is most grateful for the program though she was reluctant at first.
