Strengthening cooperation which underpins the relationship between Jamaica and India was stressed in Parliament on Tuesday, as the country welcomed the President of the Republic of India President, Ram Nath Kovind.
Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness lauded the President for his country’s generosity over the years, as the government focuses on strengthening ties. The Prime Minister also said that the government will continue to work towards expanding the Jamaica-India partnership. He says a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Monday, to increase cooperation in the field of diplomatic training. This move is expected to add to the important capacity-building initiatives, already being offered to Jamaica through India.
Mr Holness went further, to express Jamaica’s appreciation for the invaluable support provided by the government and people of India, towards the country’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts; emphasising that this fraternal and much-needed support, will long be remembered.
Meanwhile, President of the Republic of India, Ram Nath Kovind, says it is not just the Indian diaspora that brings both countries together, but also the belief in democracy and liberty. More details in this report:
