As the government continues to provide housing solutions for all Jamaicans, Prime Minister Andrew Holness says they will be targeting young professionals seeking housing. This as the government is bent on constructing 70 thousand housing units.
Mr Holness notes the government initially set a target for what they consider affordable housing at a price of 8 million dollars. However, he says since the COVID-19 pandemic building materials have jumped more than 50%, making the target now unrealistic. As such, the new target will now be approximately 10 million dollars. Meanwhile, he says there is still a segment of the housing market which requires attention, noting that there are many Jamaicans who are unable to purchase a home.
