Free professional counseling and prayer in a challenging time that is what the congregants of Grace Missionary Church in Kingston are offering to the public over a two day period. The prayer and free counseling outreach program started early Saturday, November 20, and will go up until 3pm on Sunday, November 21 at the church’s 7 West Avenue location.

“Sometimes a healing word is comfort, easing the grieved or anxious heart” and counseling can be a great place to start. With the added pressures of life due to the COVID-19 pandemic many have fallen on hard times.

As a result Deacon Arlene Burton from the Grace Missionary Church says the need for special prayer and guidance was identified. She noted that many persons are currently facing challenges such as loss of jobs, the pressures of online school and learning, and the increase in abuse in the homes.

Deacon Burton spoke to a worrisome observation; as she notes noted that quite a number of children have been having suicidal thoughts, adding that this is of grave concern for not only the society on a wider scale but also for the church. She says it appears that there is a sense of hopelessness, anxiety and depression within the society.
