Gunman Orders Meal; Kills Clarendon Businesswoman

In Clarendon, a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, where a gunman disguised as a customer entered a popular restaurant and fatally shot the owner, Alecia Peart Latchman. Those who are grieving her loss shared with CVM Live that she had recently given birth and bravely returned to her business despite having received several threats prior to the incident.

Her husband is deeply mourning the gruesome death of his wife, who was mercilessly killed along the Hayes Main Road in Clarendon on that fateful Wednesday afternoon. Alecia Peart Latchman, aged 39, was not only the owner of the restaurant but also a talented chef. According to reports, Latchman was present at the restaurant when an unknown assailant entered, pretending to place an order, and then suddenly opened fire, shooting her in the head. The police were called to the scene, and upon their arrival, they found Latchman lying face down in a pool of blood. She was rushed to the May Pen Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead. Scean Barnswell, the Councillor for the Hayes Division, disclosed that Latchman had recently returned to work after giving birth. He also expressed his concern that her killing is reminiscent of another murder that occurred in the same division not long ago. The community is left in shock and mourning, seeking justice for this senseless act of violence. Watch the report:
