Gunshot Victim Dies in Hospital, Police Appeal to Youth to Avoid Crime

The Acting Head of the St Catherine South Police is urging Jamaicans to resist criminal lifestyle. His appeal follows a bizarre incident that ended in the death of a man after his cronies reportedly dumped his body along the Hellshire main road in St Catherine.

Mere hours after celebrating the start of the New Year, an injured man was reportedly being thrown from a motor car along the Hellshire main road in Greater Portmore, St Catherine, Sunday morning. CVM LIVE understands that once the police were alerted and rushed to the scene, the men promptly abandoned the injured man in said motor vehicle, and tried to make their escape in two other vehicles waiting nearby. Unfortunately, the Acting Commanding Officer for the St. Catherine South Division Superintendent of police Hopton Nicholson says the unidentified man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

He says the two motor vehicles that were seen leaving the scene were intercepted by police and the four men in the vehicle were subsequently detained. It is believed that the deceased was involved in shootings in the corporate area. Based on preliminary investigations, Supt Nicholson says the deceased could have been taken to a medical facility, where he would have received treatment for his gunshot wounds, and likely survived. Watch the report:
