While initial reports from authorities suggested that surgeries were ongoing at Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), individuals on the waiting list continue to face prolonged uncertainty without confirmed surgery dates. When questioned by CVM News initially about the surgery delays, Errol Greene, Regional Director at the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), indicated that priority or emergency surgeries were being conducted daily at the hospital.
However, Georgia Burton, a patient who has been visiting the clinic since 2019, revealed that despite her medical complexities, her initial surgery didn’t occur until January of this year. What’s more, a confirmed date for her second surgery remains elusive. This discrepancy between official statements and patient experiences highlights ongoing challenges and delays in accessing essential surgical procedures at KPH, leaving individuals like Burton in limbo regarding their necessary medical care.
