Lawyers for suspected Colombian assassin, Mario Antonio Palacios asked the Supreme Court to order his immediate release citing his detention as unlawful. Recent reports are circulating that the Haitian government orders deportation of the suspect in the President’s assassination.

Through his attorneys, Palacios asserts his detention at the horizon adult remand centre in St. Andrew is unlawful. The office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) confirms that the Haitian government placed an extradition order for the alleged assassin.
It notes that it is “being considered by the government of Jamaica” when asked about the deportation order Palacios’ lawyer says she knows nothing about it.
Palacios a key suspect in the murder of Haitian president Jovenel Moïse, was listed as wanted by the international criminal police organization shortly before he was arrested in Jamaica for illegal entry.
