During the deluge, several communities were without their usual supply of water and electricity. The heavy rains and thunderstorms have not only caused blockages on some roadways, but also disruption in utility services.
Media and Public Relations Manager at the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) Audrey Williams says the light and power company has been working assiduously to restore power to some of the communities affected.
She notes the JPS team has been hindered by the heavy rains, hence the delay. Meantime, National Water Commission’s (NWC) Public Relations Manager Andrew Cannon says turbidity issues have affected sections of St. Catherine, St. Andrew, and Clarendon. He notes the NWC is waiting for rivers to recede before work can begin to restore customers’ water supply. Watch the full report:
