The National Works Agency (NWA) reports that heavy rains are causing travel disruptions in the north-eastern parishes of Jamaica. Motorists in St. Mary and St. Thomas, particularly those using the corridor through the St. Mary Junction and the Churchill Corner Main Road in Portland, are advised to exercise extreme caution.
Stephen Shaw, Manager of Communication and Customer Services at NWA, expresses ongoing concerns about rockfall at the St. Mary Junction and landslides affecting the Grandyhole to Scotts Hall Road in St. Mary. In St. Thomas, Port Morant is experiencing heavy floods attributed to a drainage issue in the area.
Travelers are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions as adverse weather conditions persist in these regions. Stay tuned for further updates from NWA as they work to address the challenges posed by the inclement weather.
