Homeless Community Still In Shock Following Murders

The homeless community continues to mourn the loss of four of their own, who were hacked to death in the Corporate Area this week.

Two others remain hospitalized and a suspect is said to be in custody.

When the CVM Live team visited the area where three of the men were killed at the corner of Hanover and Sutton Street in Downtown, Kingston, the police were seen combing the area for additional evidence.

They appeared to be having dialogue with alleged eye-witnesses.

He says investigators are pursuing strong leads.

It is alleged that a man of unsound mind wielding a machete, attacked the three homeless men.

However, according to a woman who  frequents the area, she says something is amiss.

While on the scene our news team witnessed an altercation between two homeless people which was shortly diffused.

The horror has triggered outrage in some segments of society.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has condemned the killing of the four homeless men and the severe wounding of two others.

The Prime Minister says it represents a new kind of savagery, given what he describes as the serial nature of the attacks.

He says the incident calls for a new kind of policing.

Holness says, the Government will spare no effort in investigating the heinous and barbaric murders of the men who are among society’s most vulnerable.

The People’s National Party minority caucus of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Council is condemning the recent spate of violence and savagery that has befallen the homeless community within the Corporate Area.

The group was responding to  reports that six homeless men were attacked, four fatally, in separate incidents in Downtown, Kingston and Half Way Tree, St Andrew during the night.

The Caucus says it appears the attacks were coordinated.
