In a Post Cabinet Media Briefing, the Minister of Labour and Social Security says pensioners are now receiving their increases, which range from 23 to 76 per cent under the National Insurance Scheme, NIS.
Other increased benefits were announced as the Minister cleared the air surrounding allegations of fraud in the media. This decree comes on the heels of the killing of eight-year-old Danielle Rowe, who is the eighth child to be murdered in Jamaica in 2023. Insisting such actions weaken the bricks of the nation’s foundation, the Governor-General urged Jamaicans to not only participate but to play their part, daily, in protecting children.
