The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, is reporting a 9 per cent reduction in complaints last year compared to 2021, despite fifteen (15) police being charged for incidents last year.
In recapping 2022, the investigative body notes with concern about continued fatal shootings linked to the security forces and welcomes the use of body-worn cameras as a means of absolving officers wrongly accused and restoring public confidence.
At the fourth quarterly media briefing held at the commission’s headquarters in New Kingston, Deputy Commissioner Hamish Campbell highlights the latest findings of fatal and non-fatal shootings involving the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), AFORCE4GOOD The latest report takes into consideration that the bulk of those fatally wounded by the security forces had weapons.
