Renowned dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel’s interview, has been the topic internationally. Vybz Kartel who was incarcerated over ten years ago. The artiste finally broke his silence by engaging an overseas media house. Fox 5, a media house in New York, announced the first part of their exclusive interview where Adidja Palmer described the cell he was being held in along with his mental and physical state.
The exclusive interview was also covered with pictures of the artiste where the background seemed to have been taken in a prison cell. Vybz Kartel’s interview has, however, prompted an investigation by the Department of Correction Services, (DCS).
The DCS says steps are being taken to clarify the veracity of the voice in the interview as the department takes the alleged breaches seriously and is probing the matter assiduously. The DCS says there are established protocols for individuals seeking to conduct interviews at correctional institutions which were not followed; insisting no interview was authorized.
Isat Buchanan, Attorney-at-Law for Palmer, says the investigation is “nonsensical” as the interview is dated. Palmer, who released an album just a week ago has fueled speculations that the interview was a marketing strategy to pull more views to his album.
