Amidst previous reports suggesting Jamaican farm workers in Canada are being treated fairly, after complaints and several withdrawing services in protest, the Labour Minister confirmed investigations continue.
The Minister also instituted several checks to aid in the investigation. Following the last report on farm workers in Ontario, Canada tabled by a fact-finding team refuting claims that the working conditions of farm workers were unsatisfactory, a statement Tuesday, however, indicates there’s still an ongoing investigation.
Minister of Labour and Social Security Pearnel Charles Jr says he has received a fulsome brief regarding previous concerns raised by some farmworkers and is closely monitoring the situation. The Minister says instructions were given to institute several things. Minister Charles Jr says his Ministry is reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the rights of farm workers are not infringed upon and they are provided with the best standards. Watch the report:
