At least one social and political commentator is describing the Opposition’s 60-day ultimatum to Police Commissioners as unfair. Helene Davis-Whyte says the commissioner’s performance cannot be judged only on murders. Following the recent ultimatum from Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, who gave the Police Commissioner 60 days to curtail crime and violence or resign.

Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU) President Helene Davis-Whyte believes the demands made by the opposition are irrational. Whyte says the commissioner’s performance cannot be judged solely on murders and notes that there are various steps to be taken to help defeat the crime epidemic.
