Jamaica Records Over 1000 COVID-19 Cases

Jamaica has recorded over a thousand cases in the last 24 hours, a record high since the onset of the pandemic. While the Ministry of Health has set out to achieve over 60 percent vaccination rate in the next two months, one opposition member of health says that’s unrealistic and calls for the health ministry to remove cap on testing.

The spike in COVID-19 cases has sparked concern among Jamaicans on the heels of the reopening schools. Opposition Spokesperson on Health Dr. Morais Guy is calling on the government to increase testing. Dr. Guy also suggests that the Health Ministry removes the cap on the number of tests conducted at the various testing sites.
