School is Back – The Coronavirus, COVI-19 pandemic has reshaped almost every aspect of the world, and that includes education.
With physical learning prohibited for the foreseeable future, hundreds of millions of students are at home and online classes are being conducted to continue their education.
Sherila Powell, the grade 6 coordinator at the halfway tree primary school in St. Andrew, says her class of 39 students is overly excited to be back in a learning environment and the parents too are receptive to the new norm. Notwithstanding the technical glitches, Miss Powell says all the teachers are onboard….
President of the Jamaica’s Teacher’s Association, Jasford Gabriel, points out that the first few days of the term will see assessments being carried out and psychosocial support being given… Meanwhile the national parenting support commission is calling for parents to ensure their children are appropriately dressed for online classes.
Parents are also strongly urged to dress accordingly.
