Prime Minister Andrew Holness is currently in Trinidad and Tobago, part of that country’s 60th Anniversary of Independence. During his visit, he has been having detailed discussions with the country’s Prime Minister, Keith Rowley, relating to both countries partnering to pool resources. These plans were solidified by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on improving trading and security, among other aspects of development.
Holness announced the signing of a memorandum signals the movement toward enhanced cooperation between the two countries. Adding that free movement would allow for a more efficient allocation of resources, and add deeper meaning to regional integration. The meeting did not go without mention of security plans to combat the high crime rates plaguing both countries. The solution- more collaboration with Trinidad and Tobago.
The partnership also seeks to aid the process of business registration, with intentions to increase trade and commerce. Talks of collaboration were supported By Prime Minister Keith Rowley, who is looking forward to additional Jamaican investment both prime ministers lauded the use of the CARICOM partnership, and the benefits it can provide for the region.
