A Jamaican man wanted for murder was today captured in Cayman. He’s been identified as 30 year old Rudolph Shaw. Police in the Cayman Islands say they have notified law enforcement in Jamaica of the capture. A search is underway to capture a man who fled the scene during the operation that led to the detention of Rudolph Shaw, Friday.
Shaw, a Jamaican was reportedly wanted for murder in Jamaica before his capture shortly before 12:30pm. Police say during the operation, firearms response unit officers in a marked service vehicle, approached a vehicle with two occupants, one of whom was Shaw.
The occupants of the vehicle attempted to evade the police and rammed into the service vehicle- disabling it. Armed officers reportedly approached and attempted to detain the men, who ignored instructions and attempted to flee. It was then that police captured the wanted man, while the other man escaped on foot.
The man who escaped is approximately 5’9” tall, of slim build and dark complexion, with short hair. Detective superintendent in the Royal Cayman Police Service, Peter Lansdown told the media “the Cayman Islands is not a safe haven for criminals. He says the police there are working with their colleagues in Jamaica on this case and believe Shaw arrived on the island by boat.
They say the authorities in Jamaica have since been notified while Shaw has been formally processed and will be handed over to the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control, CBC.
