Some Jamaicans are pleading with the Prime Minister for curfew hours adjustments in order to make ends meet. Emancipation Day 2021 for Jamaicans saw tightened COVID-19 restrictions. Our news team visited the corporate area on Monday where streets were relatively empty baring a few motorists.

We spoke with a few transport operators who explain that the lockdown has negatively impacted their income. This as they say the emancipation holiday usually puts an extra dollar in their pockets. They are recommending that the curfew starts at 8 pm as that time is more convenient.

According to the St. Andrew central police, there were no breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA), and police officers were deployed in several sections of the corporate area.

CVM LIVE understands some communities prone to gang violence were also heavily patrolled. They note the smooth movement of many locals participating in the COVID-19 vaccination blitz which ended at 5 pm.
