A quick scroll on most social media platforms will reveal gory displays of bodies in varying states; decomposed, bloodied, and even missing limbs. This has led to a proposal from Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, to prosecute people who share such content online, under the Cybercrimes Act. The point was raised as the group discussed the details of section 9 of the bill, which speaks to the use of

Computers for malicious communication. As it currently stands, individuals who share such gruesome content, cannot be prosecuted. Committee Chairman Daryl Vaz notes, the practice is becoming a daily occurrence, that must be stopped. The committee says more research will be done on the matter, regarding the way forward and will provide more information at the next sitting.
