Christmas During A Pandemic – An unusual Christmas, as celebrations were scaled down due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions imposed by the government to curtail the spread.

On the account of the police, dozens of people were prosecuted for breaches and many were warned.

And as it relates to commerce, it was a relatively reasonable Christmas for some businesses. A 7 pm all-island curfew imposed, restrictions on gathering limits, and a ban on entertainment events…

The operations of the police were scaled up with an increase in presence in public spaces during the yuletide season to help curtail crime.

It was also aimed at enforcing the disaster risk management orders, in light of the pandemic. Dozens of people across the country were prosecuted for breaches and many were warned.

Senior communications strategist at the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Communication Unit, Dennis Brooks says they are in the process of collating the overall figures.

Meanwhile, President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, Lloyd Distant Jr., says it was a relatively reasonable Christmas for businesses.
