Jamaica’s Tourism Industry Reap Rewards

The Jamaica’s tourism industry benefited from the 2021 World Travel Awards claiming among its prizes that of the ‘Caribbean’s leading destination’. Jamaica emerged victorious at the prestigious award ceremony held in Dubai, Tuesday.

The annual World Travel Awards established in 1993, is among the most prestigious to celebrate excellence in all sectors of tourism. Jamaica was named the Caribbean’s leading cruise destination and the Caribbean’s leading tourist board.

Senior advisor and strategist to the Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright says they are excited and honored by this recognition. He noted that this is not just a testament of the leadership of Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, the Tourism Ministry, the Jamaica Tourist Board, (JTB) but also the stakeholders and all the persons they work in the industry. The island was also victorious in two new categories: the Caribbean’s leading adventure tourism destination and the Caribbean’s leading nature destination.

The accolades did not stop there, with hotel and attractions sub-sectors also walking away winners. Dunn’s River Falls was named the ‘Caribbean’s leading adventure tourist attraction’ and Eclipse at Half Moon received the Caribbean’s best new hotel award.

Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett says this is a testimony to show the confidence world travel awards has in Jamaica and what Jamaica’s Tourism Industry has to offer.
