The Jamaican Bar Association (JAMBAR) is calling on the government to revisit the new Firearms Act. Under the new act President, Alexander Williams says the minimum sentence for failure to renew firearm licenses is 15 years.

At least one St Catherine man was recently given a little over four years for possession of illegal weapons under the new Firearms Act. The sentencing has left many disappointed noting that the minimum sentence for gun possession under the act is 15 years the president reveals the Jamaican bar association is conducting seminars to sensitize attorneys at law on the new firearms bill.
