The recent violence among students in schools has raised concerns from many Jamaicans with calls for changes to the safety systems.
Head of the Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools, Linvern Wright says while the education ministry will revive the positive behaviour initiative, it’s up to the communities and the wider society to model positive influences on the nation’s youth.
Some parents agree. The full resumption of face to face learning, has seemingly lent itself to a wave of disputes and fights among students in recent days. It’s left many in society concerned and fearful for the safety of the nation’s youngest minds. Linvern Wright says schools currently lack the resources to deal with the behavioural problems among students.
