JCF To Improve Facilities and Services in Hanover

A wave of crimes in western Jamaica has prompted the JCF to invest in improving facilities and services in that section of the country. Such was the plan announced by the chief of police, while in Hanover this week.

Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson at a recent stakeholders meeting announced a specialized operations unit to be built in Montego Hills, St James. The unit will provide training facilities to increase the number of officers in western parishes, noting a high demand for constables, especially in Hanover. The Commissioner says the JCF has trained 1,250 officers per annum for the past two years.

A significant improvement from previous years which only produced 450 new constables. This growth he says made it possible for officers to be strategically placed in hot spots, providing support to other divisions. Major Anderson mentioned other improvements that will be taking place in the parish.
