JDF and JCF Launches Joint Anti-Gang Task Force

The nation’s security pillars, the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force, have made official they are in collaboration to stomp out crime. This comes after reports of over one hundred murders since the start of the year and a number of other violent incidents.

Although officially launching the joint anti-gang police, military task force on Friday, the Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson says the partnership has been in effect for one week and has already been reaping positive and significant results. Speaking at a media briefing, Major General Anderson says extensive and thorough planning has gone into bolstering the effectiveness of the initiative.

He says emphasis has also been placed on cross-training security officers. That is, providing police training for soldiers and military training for police personnel.

This is expected to birth enough rounded security officers fit to execute the special operations that will be executed by the task force. He says there has also been training for sub officers to prepare them to lead these groups. Chief of Defence Staff Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss-Gorman concurs that the task force will be intentional and relentless in its pursuit of criminals.
