On Thursday a doctor and esteemed member of the Jamaica Defence Force, JDF, was fatally shot by unidentified attackers at his residence in Kingston, Jamaica. Major Dr. Bonnie-Paul Williams was found minutes after three in the morning by his spouse, who alerted the authorities.
Major Williams’ life was snuffed away in the wee hours of Thursday morning. It was reported residents heard gunshot explosions sometime after 3, subsequent to that his spouse made checks in the house for him but he was not home, it was his absence which lead her to check outside, discovering him lying on his back in the parking lot. The police were summoned and upon arrival, Dr. Williams was seen with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head.
Preliminary investigations conducted indicate Major Williams had gone out on Wednesday night and had just returned when he was murdered by unknown assailants who were in the parking lot. From observations, it is being revealed a grey Honda CR-V had been pried, causing damage to the bonnet and left fender. It is suspected the perpetrators may have been in the process of stealing this car when Dr. Williams arrived in the parking lot and was shot upon exiting his vehicle.
News of the major tragedy has prompted an outpouring of condolences from colleagues and those with whom he came in direct contact as news of this heinous act reverberates throughout the island, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by those, who selflessly serve and protect.
JCF Names Persons of Interest, Urges Them to Report to The Police
Superintendent Damion Manderson is appealing to several alleged crime producers believed to be linked to the gang tensions in the space to turn themselves in, to the St Andrew South Police. He has also offered some encouragement that peace will be restored to the crime-torn community.
