JLP Councilor Shot Dead

Police are convinced the attack that claimed the life of JLP Councilor Lennox Hines was a direct and intentional one. So far, no suspect has been apprehended, but JLP Chairman Robert Montague is advising persons to remain calm and give any information they may have to the police. Condemnation’s inpouring from Jamaica Labour Party members, following Thursday evening’s killing along Marcus Garvey Drive, of JLP Councilor caretaker for the Southborough Division in Portmore, Lennox Hines.

Police reports are the councilor caretaker was driving a white Honda CR-V, when men rode up on a motorcycle and opened fire, hitting Hines and his female passenger. Hines died on the spot, but police have confirmed the woman is being treated at hospital.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kirk Ricketts tells CVM Live Hines was specifically targeted by the men. Chairman of the JLP, Robert Montague says the party is in shock at the horrific news. The killing has reportedly angered many JLP supporters, but Montague is encouraging everyone to remain calm as the police continue their investigations. The police say no suspect has been identified, however investigations continue.
