JLP Rejects Poll As Fictitious And Contrived To Mislead

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) dismissed the recent Don Anderson Poll as fabricated and intended to deceive. Despite acknowledging recent difficulties, the JLP maintains that their support remains robust and reliable, citing internal polls. On Sunday, the Prime Minister and Leader of the JLP, Andrew Holness, assured supporters in southeast Clarendon that despite criticism and the spread of false information, the party continues to be the preferred choice for the Jamaican people.

Days later a PNP-commissioned poll suggested otherwise- that the opposition is leading in favourability and that fewer Jamaicans want to see Holness wield power with a third consecutive term. The JLP clapped back Tuesday afternoon dismissing the Don Anderson Poll as misleading and fictitious, contrived as a form of political propaganda, to help shore up support for the PNP president, who it considers a weak leader.

While the party concedes the loss of purchasing power in light of global economic instability to include issues with global inflation impacting fuel costs and select foods, it assures the JLP remains the undisputed champion in securing economic stability coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. The JLP contends they have taken steps to accomplish much in all areas of the country’s development despite being dogged with challenges and disasters. Among the myriad accomplishments reiterated was the COVID-19 care support granted to some of the most vulnerable during the pandemic. The statement continues, despite shocks, there are increased reserves, most consistent increases to path beneficiaries adding no other administration has brought debt servicing down to 28 cents in every dollar of revenue.

It’s why the Holness administration insists they are in a class of their own. It went further claiming the PNP’s ” naked, self-serving and vulgar manipulations to gain power without accounting for its past performance or providing credible alternatives must be exposed to the people. The JLP says its own internal polls done frequently to guide the party show the party in a strong and continued leading position, assuring Holness and his team are focused on moving the state ship forward at a good pace.
