In this update, murder accused Jolyan Silvera appeared in the Home Circuit Court on Tuesday, where his bail application was denied. The former PNP Member of Parliament for St. Mary Western is accused of killing his wife, Mellisa, in November last year. Initially believed to have died in her sleep from natural causes, an autopsy three weeks later revealed she died from gunshot wounds. Jolyan Silvera was arrested in January, a week after his wife’s funeral. Attorneys King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and Patrice Riley made the bail application on May 2 on behalf of their client. Following the court’s decision, Champagnie also shared plans to file an appeal.
