Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) is appealing to members of the public to disguise their fears when challenged by dogs. The 73-year-old woman, suspected victim of a dog attack in Trelawny, has again triggered conversation around treating the traumatic experience and emotional consequences, from being attacked.
Managing Director, Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) Pamela Lawson says negative reaction to dogs’ trigger attacks. She is encouraging people to remove the bad dogs’ label. Lawson says all dogs are dangerous but taming by owners is the best strategy for them.
When asked what should an individual do when attacked by dogs’ she recommends avoiding the dependence on athletic prowess. She adds that once the body hits the ground the victim is as good as defeated Lawson, revealing that there is a possibility the mutilated body found might have been the result of stray dogs. She adds dogs tend to attack people when they feel threatened, which leads to them being territorial. Watch the report below:
