President of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) Jasford Gabriel is lauding the initiative of the Government to provide support in facilitating students in extra lessons.
Gabriel says this mechanism can be used as a tool to bridge the digital divide among other current strategies.
The JTA President notes that this new strategy will cover all areas regarding involving teachers and students.
Additionally, he responded to statements made by Education Minister Fayval Williams as it relates to the performance of teachers in the classroom.
Gabriel notes the reduction in salaries and lack of proper equipment for teachers. He says these issues have been burdensome.
Meanwhile, The JTA sought to appeal for clarity after the Association received numerous calls regarding the resumption of face-to-face classes in tertiary institutions.
