After 2 years, jury trials are to resume in the Circuit Courts on April 20. The resumption is not without a warning from the court administration division that jurors are expected to show up and wear their masks. This is in light of a reduction in Jamaica’s COVID-19 infection rate and the revocation of measures under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).
Director of Client Services, Communications, and Information at the Court Administration, Mrs. Kadiesh Fletcher says the participation of jurors is critical in ensuring trials can proceed before the courts and be disposed of within a timely manner.
Jurors receive a stipend of 2-thousand dollars for each day they have been empanelled for a trial. Fletcher is assuring Jurors that the Court Administration Division has moved to expedite the payment process. Watch the full report:
