The Ministry of Justice will be launching activities for the Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR in the parish of Westmoreland. Justice Minister Delroy Chuck visited the students of manning’s school to introduce the initiative. He says too many students are turning to violence to resolve conflict, instead of mediating the issue.
Justice Minister Delroy Chuck says the Ministry will be launching Alternative Dispute Resolution Programme, ADR in Westmoreland this weekend under the theme, “taking justice to the people of Jamaica”. The country has seen multiple school fights leading to injuries and fatality, since the resumption of full face to face learning in March. Minister chuck says sadly schools have become battlefields, where far too many students are resorting to violence to resolve conflicts. Minister chuck admits a teacher’s job is extremely challenging. He says it’s difficult for them to completely control violence in schools on their own.
The ADR programme will be used across schools and communities to maintain peace. Meanwhile, the minister is urging teachers and students who know anyone who’s a victim of abuse, to speak up now. Minister Chuck says victims of abuse should not be neglected as they may resort to violence.
