Their protest follows a controversial video, Friday of an encounter between one of their colleagues and a policeman. Following the now-viral video where a JUTC driver was allegedly abused and arrested by a police officer on Friday, disgruntled drivers at the state-run company on Monday morning withdrew their services in protest against the incident.
JUTC Communications Manager, Cecil Thoms says the drivers felt the matter was poorly handled and required a more delicate approach by the lawmen. He says the driver was unable to comply with the police and reversed his vehicle considering the safety of passengers walking behind the bus.
Meanwhile, Thoms notes that the strike has ended after successful talks with the authorities. He says the police will do further investigations to take appropriate actions.
